Personal Intrinsic Motivators When intrinsic motivation is present, it can have a strong influence on an individual’s behaviour. In healthcare, this gives rise to individuals who are dedicated and passionate about their work. Manion (2011) identified five intrinsic motivators that influence professional behaviour: “healthy relationships, meaningful purpose, competence, choice and progress” (p. 297) and in this instance, all five were present. Workplace engagement is in place when the presence of these factors serves to stimulate and inspire individuals to achieve happiness in their professional lives.…
All 103 statements from the students are represented in figure 1. The 11 clusters that were generated were made during the phase two sorting activity. Statements are grouped together based off of their relevancy, such as 26, 48, 49, and 63, which are in the “Unity” cluster. The statements that were frequently sorted together by the participants were found closer together on the cluster map. Statements such as 102 (Advisors) and 12 (Self Discipline), which are on opposite sides of the map, were less likely grouped together.…

MANIC Discussion Alan Young What was the most import thing in the interview? “Most: There are those who have to make instructional design decisions and not just those who are trained as instructional designers.” This is very powerful statement and it lets you know that being able to make decisions is very important when it comes to how courses are designed, implement, and provided to students for them to learn.…
Aspiring Leaders Academy What have you done to further increase student achievement in your classroom or to support others in your school or department? The student academic achievement is my number one priority. I use the students background and previous experiences to understand and use their strengths as well as to learn about possible challenges that may interfere with their learning. Learning about their interest, I create an inclusive, safe, and empathetic environment in which all students connect and learn how to learn. I aligned all lessons to the learning standards, while using real life experiences or scenarios to make learning purposely and fun.…
The Purdue Three Stage Model The Purdue Three Stage Model is a framework for a program or curriculum with an emphasis on creativity, higher level thinking, problem-solving skills, and independent learning abilities. This model is dependent upon trained and creative teachers willing to teach, facilitate and finally offer resources for each individual student. Criterion 1: Respect for individuals with diverse abilities, strengths, and goals (PARTIALLY MET) The Purdue Three Stage Model ’s gifted identification process includes particular attention to a student 's’ creativity and potential rather than traditional measures of above average scores in order to include English Language Learners, low income families, and minorities (Moon et al., 2009,…
Personalized learning allows students to adjust their education p,an to better suit their needs. It takes into account the learner's weaknesses, strengths, personal goals, and even their personal interests. In today's schools, there had become a significant emphasis on college readiness and preparing students for education beyond that of the high school level. In McCelland's article, "Personalization Equals Success", she expresses the belief that schools should include educational programs that provides students with oppritunities to explore beyond just college readiness. Colorado has led the initiative for online and digital education with two very different online programs, Rocky Mountain Digital Academy and Mountain view Virtual.…
I am a first generation college student. I am defined that way because my parents never went to college. Some of the differences are the reasons students choose to go to college, institution selection, and lifestyles. I enroll in less expensive college sector, but most of the students I know are often faced with a lack of resources due to the low income.…

In the scientific paper “Exploring the Mechanisms of Self-Control Improvement”, by Michael Inzlicht, Lisa Legault, and Rimma Teper, a theory is developed to describe how self-control can be improved through multiple steps. The team behind the paper used cybernetic principles to determine three separate processes for self control. Which Includes setting goals, monitoring when behavior diverges from goals, and implementing behavior aligned with goals. Cybernetics is defined as the scientific study of control. It is broken down into three different parts, which were mentioned previously.…

Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to read and post. As far as your question on how both sections specifically impacting me and my learning process at Capella is outstanding. Capella made the process of learning a smooth transition for me as long as I stay abreast of my learning, and doing my assignments on a timely manner. I found these two topics resonate with my professional goals because they aligned with my goals. For example, I am an internal individual who describes as being locus of control.…
Argumentative Essay: Flaws of the Education System There are inherent flaws within the education system which we use today pushes students far beyond their limits and it lacks emphasis on practical skill. Schools create a needlessly high stress environment basing their future upon numbers and grades rather than teaching and refining their practical skills. Lots of potential is flushed out of the curriculum due to college and high schools insisting that students must be able to juggle advance courses, maintain high unweighted GPAs, and participate in extracurricular activities in order to succeed in the future; hence, repairing and recognizing the inherent flaws of the education system is crucial to ensure that students earn the future that…
Upon completion of a K-12 education graduates should be expected to have acquired the fundamental skills and knowledge that will allow them to lead successful and fulfilling lives. There are eight key skills and content areas that I prepose all graduates should be expected to be comfortable with and excel to some degree in. The eight goals of my education plan are that graduates will: Be fluent in a second language and proficient/advanced in a third. Be critical writing and verbal presentation/communication skills.…
