As well, I noticed that once a pill bug wandered into the colder chamber, they would tend to stay. One thing we could do to further improve the experiment is to add more pill bugs to the chamber, in order to help prove the test's reliability.…
Environmental Effects on Pillbug Behavior Catherine Liapes October 14, 2015 AP Biology- Pd.9 Mr. Angus Introduction: Before conducting this lab, I researched information on pillbugs and learned that pill bugs are commonly found in damp environments such as piles of leaves, or under logs. Although they are crustaceous, they can still spend their entire lives on land. They are about ¾ inch in length with seven pairs of legs, and multiple antennae. Pillbugs are nocturnal and mainly consume rotting vegetation.…
Problem: It is known that isopods have a preference for moisture. This lab will specifically test whether or not an additive will affect a pill bug's preference.…
Hi Pam , how are you ? We are kind of confuse in your below comment regarding the pump ZW 8X6X10F¨, attached is the file that I received from FM back on August 19,2015 with the test points to perform and according to the Maximums Ratings attached and curves we really don´t know what is the mistake? Can you please point me out exactly what do you meant, so I can be able to revise it with the Lab Staff.…
In this experiment we were trying to find out what liquid the gummy bears will grow the most in. Our hypothesis was the gummy bear in orange juice would grow bigger in length and in width. Our data did support our hypothesis because the gummy bear did grow the biggest in length and width in the orange juice. We observed the red cherry flavored gummy bears for two days. The orange juice gummy bear kept its bear shape, but colored the orange juice more yellow than orange.…
3. The earthworm has a segmented body with a mouth at the anterior end and an anus at the posterior end. It has a smooth, purple dorsal side and a rough, yellow ventral side with setae. Two sperm grooves run along the body from segment 15 (where sperm ducts are also located) to the clitellum, which looks like a tube surrounding the earthworm’s body and is closer to the anterior end. 4.…
The primary bit of this lab, we were given the chance to essentially analyze worms and turn out to be more acquainted with the terms of life structures concerning the body areas and positions. The worm analyzation concentrated for the most part on the sexual multiplication part of worms, likely in light of the fact that it is not fundamentally the same as human proliferation. I learned in this lab that worms are not arranged as male or female since a few worms are considered bisexuals and have sexual proliferation organs of both genders. Amid this lab I recognized diverse structures of the worm and their physiological functions. In the second part of the analysis, I got to practically dismember a fetal pig.…
Charts were created from a cumulated pool of planarian research. Dead and missing planaria were not included in the data pool. Discussion: After undergoing the regeneration process Planaria had varying responses. This study concluded that the majority of planaria retain the learning process after regeneration, this statement is especially relevant in the head regenerated planaria. Before the experiment, a hypothesis was made that the head end would retain the classical conditioning and the tail end would not.…
There were two “mothers”, a cloth mother and a wire mother with food. The monkey would go to the wire mother for food but spend most of its time on the cloth mother. They came to the conclusion that contact comfort is important and overshadowed all other variables, including nursing. They then presented a scary apparatus and the monkey runs to his mother (the cloth one), to touch her and have contact with the mother. His personality completely changed when he had contact with his mother.…
Imagine being alone and trying to survive with no food, shelter, and marauders and cannibals waiting for you to cross their path. Cormac McCarthy confronts these fears in his Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Road. Released on September 26 2006, this novel has been opening the reader’s eyes to what the reality of survival looks like. An unexplained catastrophe has turned the world into bunt, sparse land that is now home to only a few humans and dogs. The main characters are an unnamed man and his young son, who are traveling south across America to reach warmer weather.…
Hypothesis: Strain B does not respond to the signal. Methods: The variables in the experiment were: the strain type (independent variable) and the percent light bulbs (dependent variable). We had seven plates: two with the A filtrate on the B strain, two with B filtrate on the B strain, one with distilled water on the A strain, and two with A filtrate on the A strain. The petri dishes were labeled and incubated for two weeks.…
Introduction The propose of this experiment was to see if we could conducted an experiment that we could elect data and act our hypothesis about sordaria. We hypothesized if tan and black sordaria got placed together to cross over, we could expect out of 50 sordarias that 27 would cross over and 23 would not cross over. Some research has brought up some discussion about how much tan or black sordaria is one the agar square to begin with. (Kitani 1961)…
Research this chemical and state why you believe it was added to the tubes in both of these experiments. I believe it was added because it is an indicator that can change color in the presence of carbon dioxide and acts as an indicator of photosynthesis. Examine the three graphs below. Which do you think most accurately represents the results you would see if you were to increase light when performing Part A of the experiment? Why?…
METHODS Subjects The study consisted of four rats. All the rats are male and are virtual albino Sprague-dawley. The rats in this study are not previously conditioned.…
There were multiply observation made throughout the experiment which help support the hypothesis. When the biscuit caught alight and was placed under the test-tube in 30secs there was a large amount of black substance formed under the test-tube. Another observation made was that using 3 biscuits the water began to slightly bubble. When conducting the experiment the biscuit would extinguish this only happened when using 2 or 3 biscuits. When 2 and 3 biscuits were used when they extinguished and could not be relit the biscuits fused together.…
