Cannabis is a plant. There are three different types of Cannabis plants. Cannabis indica, Cannabis sativa, and Cannabis ruderalis. The Cannabis plant has many uses for a lot of things. Most ancient cultures grow the plant to be used as herbal medicine, like in Asia around 500 BC. The history of the cannabis in America dates back to the early colonists, who grew it for textiles and rope.

Political changes in the 1900s led to the illegality of Cannabis in most of the United States, though it is legal in some states. After the Mexican revolution in 1910, there were many Mexicans immigrated to the United States. The American population started to harvest the Cannabis plant in the 17th century. It was used to make ropes, sails, and clothing. In the early 16th hundreds an assembly in Virginia talked made it so that every farmer had to grow the Cannabis plant. Now it could be traded in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. It was working pretty good until the Civil war. Other materials started replacing the Cannabis plant. The Cannabis plant made an uprising when in the late 1800s they were using the Cannabis plant to make all types of medicine.

After the 1910 Mexican revolution, immigrants started coming to the U.S. The Mexicans were started to adapt to the American life. The immigrants were using the drug from the plant Cannabis called Marijuana more and more and people started to fear them. They are being accused of always have Marijuana on him.
