Canine Parovirus Research Paper

Decent Essays
I chose Canine Parovirus (Parvo for short) for my Medical Record project because it affects thousands of dogs anually, across the nation. This affects the cardiovascular system as well as the digestive system. The heart and its veins are the main anatomical part of the cardiovascular system. The digestive system involves mainly the stomach, liver, intestines and rectum. The cardiovascular systems job is to regulate blood circulation and transfer nutrients, oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body. The digestive system is used to break down food and carry nutrients into cells in the body. It is crucial these two body systems function properly, otherwise chances of survival decrease drastically. Canine Parvo is a highly contagious virus

Rabbit (shope) fibromatosis is caused by fibroma virus, a member of the poxvirus group and was isolated in the United States from a cottontail rabbit in 1932(Percy & Barthold, 2007, p. 258). It produces tumors and is transmitted where husbandry allows contact with insect vectors (Kahn, 2010, p. 1733). Research by Mitchell and Tully (2009) stated, “Clinical signs include subcutaneous, nonattached, wart-like fibromas on the legs or feet and around the muzzle and eyes” (p. 387). The tumors that develop can persist for several months before disappearing and the rabbit can appear to be completely normal afterwards (Kahn, 2010, p. 1733). According to Percy and Barthold (2007), “Rabbit (shope) fibroma virus is regarded as a benign, self-limiting disease…
