Candy, I observed you providing great instructions to Mr. Mouth when performing the wall slide. This was evident by him performing it back to you correctly. You were attentive to his performance with his exercise however you lacked focus with his non-verbal cues earlier in the session. When you asked him to show you “ergonomic and biomechanical exercises” you missed his puzzled look because your eyes were staring at the chart. Providing appropriate body language and more eye contact would have allowed you to pick up on Mr. Mouth’s nonverbal confusion and demonstrate to him that you are interested in his wellbeing. Being self-aware of both you and your patient’s verbal and non-verbal cues will help break down the patient-practitioner communication
