Candycane Research Paper

A candy cane is a hard candy. The signature flavor is peppermint and they are painted with stripes. The candy cane is long, thin, and curved at the top to resemble a walking cane similar elderly people use. These candies are made using a mass production process, which involves mixing and cooking the candy batch, forming the cane shapes, and putting it in the appropriate packaging. Candy canes have been a favorite holiday candy for hundreds of years. First step in making candy cane is that gathering all the raw materials. Candy cane are initially made up of sugar. After the batch has been it has set it up on another table which consist of two automatic arms that stretches the mixtures that turn it into white sticky mixtures. The worker pours respective flavor in the candy cane mixture while it is stretching into table. Another worker then takes a large portion of the warm candy and forms it into a loaf. Part of the loaf is put off to the side, dyed, and cut into strips. For the traditional candy cane, this part of candy is dyed red. It will contain the red stripes in the finished product. The four in-long red strips are then pressed at set intervals into the white loaf. The loaf can then be sent to the extruder machines to convert it into a candy cane. The loaf passes through the extruder and comes out the other side on a conveyor belt as a long thread of candy. The strand runs under cutters that slice the thread of candy to produce individual candies. Then the individual candies are trapped in plastic. Then they are then passed through a device that bends the top of the candy to make look like cane designed. Since the candy is still slightly warm it can still be shaped as desired.
