Candy Land is a brand new, hydraulic steel roller coaster ride, using an abundant amount of modern technology, recently added to Hershey Park. Loops, a corkscrew around some delicious ice cream, and a 100 foot drop are all included in the ride. Not only is there scrumptious looking scenery, but also the roller coaster has an average speed of 60 miles per hour, and can reach speeds up to 85 miles per hour. If friction and gravity were not present during the ride all of the passengers would go flying. Also, this ride will be the most magical part of your day, with delectable foods, including a soft pretzel and funnel cakes. You've heard of funnel cakes, right? At the top of the hill there are balanced forces because the forces in all directions are equal and therefore there is no motion. Force is a push or pull acting on an object. In this case one example of force in Candy Land is as you are going down the 100 foot drop there is a force pushing you down the hill. Air resistance is a frictional force, acting in the opposite direction of the moving object. For example, when you are going up a hill, the cart will slow down due to air resistance. Remember the funnel cake mentioned earlier? Well, as you are zooming in a circle around the funnel cake, centripetal acceleration is present. Similar to centripetal force, centripetal acceleration is when there is acceleration toward the center of the circle.

Newton's Second Law of Motion states that an object will accelerate in the same direction that the net force acted upon. The law takes action when the net force acts upon the cart during the loop, therefore the cart will accelerate in that same direction. To top it all off and guarantee this ride is even more memorable, make sure you remember to pick up the astonishing photo taken just for you on your way out as you exit the ride.
