At this point she leaves it in the will of the Divine. Water is considered the soothing element in Mrs. Johnson’s practice. When she is considering heavy choices in her life or going through a stressful time, she will seek out a body of water near her and sit to watch the water. On a still day this will help her to focus and tune in to her feelings or thoughts and find peace. If the water is rippling or it is a windy day can have different interpretations such as something bad approaching or a difficult decision Mrs. Johnson will have to make which will help her to prepare. Wikipedia gives a definition of the five elements, “These five elements are invoked during many magical rituals, notably when consecrating a magic circle. The five elements are air, fire, water, earth, and aether (or spirit). Aether unites the other four.” Mrs. Johnson states that aether does bond all the other elements together through spirit. Seeing how much the Wiccan practice has grown over the last few decades really puts into perspective the individual seeking spiritual wholeness. Every person craves spiritual equilibrium through their chosen religion and beliefs. The practice of Wicca is astounding and gives precedence to the connection between Nature and the Divine. The use of herbs, candles and elements in the Wiccan practice unify different components that carry out the practitioner’s devotion to Nature and the Divine. The adventure of delving into Mrs. Johnson’s every day life has been liberating. This experience in writing my paper from her view has confirmed the importance of keeping the connection with Nature and the Devine secure. I am a firm believer in the connection between mind, body, and spirit.
