Extending and Evaluating “Candide”
The satire Candide was written by Voltaire, making fun of the day to day life two hundred thirty years ago. The satire in the story are sometimes used today for example; the way he made fun of the royalty, military,and women. Also candide was excited and full of joy in the learning of the world making Him slow to start and believing everything that he hear.’Pangloss was always telling me, and I see that everything is for the best.’ So some of the story still replies to today's everyday life.
For example they way he makes fun of women, i believe the story was making fun of women in a way. He makes fun of the baroness by calling her three hundred fifty pounds. This takes away respect to her because My mom always said that “U never tell or ask a girl her weight.” This was greatly use until The Great Depression because of the women rights campaign. this when women started to get right like to vote. this was also when women started working in factories. Now in time women have grown to gain more respected today. Now people just joke around with the little respect for women. His was to make fun of the baron by saying he is the best because he has doors and windows. There is nothing great about him because he has doors and windows every castle has doors and windows. Also calling his wife Three Hundred and fifty pounds. Today we do the same thing but not as king and queen but as Governments. Majority of the people of America make fun of Obama. Ever seens he was elected comedian and everyday people have made funny commands and gestures of Obama. For example a joke about Obama:” She was Hannah Montana when Bush was President Thanks Obama!” This is just one example of the comedy about hem. this joke is referring to the different personalities of Miley Cyrus and how see is changed her
