SNC failed to brief coordinating instructions, a SOM, and did not include an “IOT” statement in his mission statement. His lack of a SOM was overshadowed by his decent work in providing tasking statements to his team members. It included a mini walk-the-dog as well, which aided in the team’s understanding of his intent. SNC had a sound understanding of the tactical situation. This was displayed by understanding that his squad was to his rear and the unknown, besides the squad leader, was to his front. This resulted in his placing of security facing his front.
