He took input from his peers which helped him develop a coherent plan. It took about five minutes for Candidate James to gain confidence and display a sense of urgency. Candidate James understood the enemy situation and clearly briefed his security element and consistently checked in with him throughout the problem. He positioned himself in the middle of the Fire Team, which gave him the ability to fully command and control his Fire Team; he was able to observe the problem and progress.
