First of all, it seems like everything we do in modern society will somehow link us to some form of cancer down the road. Think about it. Everywhere you look someone is warning you about a certain product or a certain hidden ingredient in your food that will "surely" lead to cancer in the future. Sure, there are endless studies that support factual links but at the end of the day, if we can't cure cancer how can we predict it? Just because you carry the BRCA1 mutation doesn't mean you are definitely going to get cancer. A small to mid range of women who carry the gene under different circumstances are found to develop cancer at some point in their lives. Most statistics say they will develop it by age 70.
