Informative Speech On Cancer

This is a disease that effects millions of individuals each year, causing their families to suffer as well. There are hundreds of forms of this sickness. It does not attack any specific gender, race, status, body type, age, etc. of person, therefore no one is safe from the illness. This very frightening and treacherous disease is known as cancer. I have chosen cancer for my final project due it hitting very close to home. I have lost many family members to this disease over my lifetime. Even though, many of my love ones have passed from the dangerous illness or even fighting for their survival now, I haven’t fully understood what cancer actually is. What is cancer?

Treatments include; surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy, stem cell transplant, and precision medicine. Surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy are the most common of cancer treatments. Common side effects caused by cancer treatments include; anemia, appetite loss, bleeding and bruising, constipation, delirium, diarrhea, edema, fatigue, hair loss, infection, memory or concentration problems, nausea and vomiting, nerve problems, pain, etc. Is there survival after being diagnosed with cancer? What is the prognosis? After doing some research this seems to be a very hard question to answer. Considering all the different factor that surround cancer. It depends on when the cancer is detected, what stage it is, and the health of the person being diagnosed with it, and so on. Each person’s body reacts completely different. For example, two people were diagnosed with bladder cancer and were put on the same treatment. One of those two peoples body might accept the treatment, whereas the other person’s body does
