Collaborating closely with Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership, an independent charity, Canary Wharf Group took on 99 work experience participants in 2014. During July and August, the Group took on four placement students for six weeks and – as part of its internship programme – also hosted undergraduates from local universities. Three Bangladeshi interns joined its East London Business Place (ELBP) team as business engagement officers, in order to recruit local black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) businesses to the Fit for Legacy (FfL) programme. Making use of their strong local ties and knowledge, the interns registered 61 businesses from this hard to reach sector of the business community – more than half from referrals – in six
