- Senators play an active role in the legislative process contributing their wisdom, ideas, and energy to create our laws.

Sub-argument: “The Senate is intended as a forum in which distinct regional sentiments and interests may bear upon the direction of the whole federation” (Hynes, 2010, pg. 40). The contribution from an elected body would provide strong candidates servicing their regions and locals.
Sub-argument: Regional elections can eliminate misrepresentation and rejection. “There may be alienation; there may be a sense of exclusion from ‘white man’s politics; there may be scepticism from representation” (Smith, 2007, pg. 102). Elections would ensure internal political leaders.
