The Canadian Psychological Association document of standards consisted of four principles (Respect for the Dignity of Persons, Responsible Caring, Integrity in Relationships, and Responsibility to Society). The standards that they had to, were ranked by hierarchical importance. Which goes to show that maybe the CAP put a little more time and research into the principles that they set. The CAP indicates that, although all principles must be considered in the resolution of ethical dilemmas, when principles are in conflict, the principle highest in the hierarchy takes precedence (Hadjistavropoulos, 1999).
