The Canadian Health Act is a complex set of guidelines that are followed by the government to provide equal care to all residents of Canada. But over time some aspects of the act have become outdated and reform needs to occur or certain amendments need to be made. Some of the principals directly affect my career and other have a minimal effect.
Analysis/Reflection In section 8 of the CHA, Public Administration is the key focus and it allows the public to know that all administrations of provincial health insurance is prioritized on a nonprofit basis and they are held accountable if there are issues. Government could further increase the efficiency of Public administration by broadening the act and incorporating more services could deem to be beneficial. It will be assuring to know that public administrations are held accountable and they are subject to audits at any time. Furthermore the act requires all qualified provincial residents to receive 100% of medically necessary services provided by hospitals and physicians and the government should continue to maintain the criterion for universality. In section 11, Canadian Health Act deals with Portability of health care services from province/territory to province/territory. The criterion of portability are fundamental to Canadian values but some provinces breach these values, Quebec being one of them refuses to compensate for the same services that its residence receive.
