Physical Traits
The Canada lynx has long gray fur with long black tufts of fur around the face. It looks like a beard. It has long black hair tufts coming from the tips of its ears. The lynx has big paws that are covered with fur that help it run on deep snow. Its claws can retract which help when it needs to run or they can come out if the lynx needs to climb. Their front legs are shorter than their back legs and their tail is short with a black tip. They are medium sized, a little bigger than a house cat weighing from 11-40 pounds and reach 19-22 inches in height.

Diet
Canada lynxes eat mainly snowshoe hares. They can eat an entire hare every one to two days. Sometimes they will prey on smaller animals like birds and squirrels if hares cannot be found. Their predators include cougars, wolves, coyotes, and humans. People will kill the Canada lynx for their fur coat.
Reproduction
Breeding season for the Canada lynxes is usually from March to May. Most kittens are born in May and June. The gestation period lasts about 64 days. The size of the litters are usually one to four kittens. When they are first born, the kittens are blind and depend on the mother for everything for about two weeks. The mother brings food to them until they start hunting on their own which is about seven to nine months old. They leave their mother at 10 months and go out on their own.
