Personal Narrative-My Grandfather's Glory Hole

There I was in the middle of Saskatchewan, Canada fishing with my grandfather. My mother and brother were also there and we had been fishing for about four hours. We had taken a 45 minute boat ride to into the back river system in order to get to the “Glory Hole” as my grandfather calls it. All was still and it just started drizzling a little which is normal for the afternoon, in summer at the area we were at. But as we started the motor to leave it roared to life and sputtered out within seconds. We tried to start it again and fill it with more gas, but the motor kept sputtering out. Finally my grandfather took us to an island in the middle of the river where the bears would not swim to due to the current being too fast. We anchored the boat and got off …show more content…
While my grandfather sat in the boat trying to fix the boat I walked around the island and looked for anything to occupy my time whether that be a swingset or a bunch of rocks to skip. I eventually found another small patch of sand around the size of a door. I sat down on the sand and put my feet in the cold water and just looked out into the river as I realized no one had phone service and that we could be on the island for a long while. I got up after about 5 minutes and pulled out my phone which was a sliding phone at the time and I checked the time, it was around two in the afternoon. It had been a single hour since we got stuck here and I felt we would be stuck for a while longer. So I eventually went back to the boat to find my grandfather sitting down frustrated at the motor and my siblings and my mother had made a makeshift rock hut that they were taking pictures of. As I examined the hut we all looked out into the river and saw a caribou swimming across the river by itself and my brother got all our attention and pointed at it. Then we all looked out and took pictures of the caribou as my grandfather grunted to
