Twelve years into our marriage, Shawn and I made a trip to the ever so beautiful Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Since we had never even been on a honeymoon, this trip was a well needed vacation from the hustle and bustle of our everyday activities. The plane ride seemed to take forever. Once we landed and walked off the plane, the hot and humid ocean air hit us. I loved the airport; it was like a giant tiki hut, open to the outdoors! Instead of walking from the airport building through a tunnel to get into or off the plane, we walked down the stairs onto the runway. After going through customs, we caught a bus and headed to the resort. It was right on the beach. The sound of the ocean waves rolling in and out was intoxicating.
