In the article, "Can the Desert Tortoise Be Saved," Meckenzie Carro explains how desert tortoises and other animals are becoming extinct. The desert tortoise in the Mojove Desert is becoming extinct because ravens are eating them. But this can be fixed. Conservationists, Tim Shields has used technology to create a fake but realistic shell that when ravens pact at them it releases a bad tasting spray. He claims that this has been working so far. They also have been using a rover to scare the ravens away. Other animals are becoming extinct also. Poachers are killing elephants and rhinos and selling their tusks illegally.
