Can T Buy Me Love Bad Decisions

Throughout the movie “Can’t Buy Me Love” the main character Ronald makes many bad decisions, that are a direct result of his lack of self-esteem. One of the biggest and worst decisions Ronald makes is paying Cindy $1,000 to pretend to go out with him. Ronald does this because he is widely unpopular and is upset that while most of his peers are out at parties, he is at home with a couple of other unpopular kids playing poker in the basement. He even sits of the visitors side during the football games. Ronald is upset because he isn’t viewed as one of the “cool” kids; he feels invisible. He wants to be one of them and be popular, have tons of friends, and have girls go crazy over him. This is his dream. The dream he wouldn’t of ever had if his self-esteem was higher he could realize that he didn’t really need those “cool” kids to be popular. However, because of his extremely low self-esteem he chooses to make one bad decision after another. …show more content…
Ronald had been mowing lawns all summer and had now collected enough money to buy a much coveted new telacosepo. However, when he sees that Cindy needs a new dress to replace her mother’s; which she ruined. He impetuously gives her the thousand dollars. In exchange he just wants a chance to live his dreams of becoming popular and of talking to Cindy. Although this may sound like an ingenious idea to him, to his disappointment his reign of popularity is temporary. As Ronald sees the abrupt ending to his popularity, he realizes that he lost his true friends along the way and now has nobody left. However, Cindy eventually can see that Ronald actually cares much for her and she comes back to him, being his real girlfriend
