Can Students Have Too Much Tech By Susan Pink

Many school systems in America are using more technology every year. By having more technology, students are given the opportunity to use computers and the internet to expand their researching abilities. Though technology has been increasing, does it positively affect the students? According to Susan Pink, author of “Can Students Have Too Much Tech,” she reported that students who grew up with modern technology were more likely to fail in academic classes. Although the internet can have a negative impact on students grades, I believe that students should have a limit on how they can use technology. As technology begins to expand, it is important to supervise students. Pink states, “Only when such teachers are effectively trained to apply a specific application to teaching a particular topic to a particular set of students — only then does classroom technology really work.” Students who were using technology for other purposes were not helping their grades. Therefore, a solution to this problem would be to strictly manage how a student is able to use the internet. I believe that many teachers do not need to be trained to stop students from going to bad websites or play games. …show more content…
This could be one of the causes to why a student’s math and reading skills are low. Pink explained, “Babies born to low-income parents spend at least 40 percent of their waking hours in front of a screen — more than twice the time spent by middle-class babies.” By becoming attached to technology, they spend less time building language and communication. Babies will inevitably be exposed to technology because low income parents are busy working. Therefore, it is important to limit what the children can reach.
