Can People of Color be Racist? Racism is generally defined as a system of advantages based on race. However, the term racism has been controversial for many years and has been influenced by numerous people from different ethnic backgrounds. If you were to ask a African American Activist what racism is, most of them would say racism is institutionalize power plus prejudice. While if you were to ask a person of non-color the same question, they would simply refer to the webster dictionary definition, “The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.” Each individual in society has their own experience and perspective of racism based off the environment and ethnical culture they were raised in. This question does not simply refer to African Americans as being people of color, but this also includes every single minority that is not white. Examples includes Asians, Latinos, Puerto Ricans, Native Americans, etc. Looking at other parts of the world such as Asia or Pakistan, where Whites make up a small percentage of the population, racism does exist. For example, in Pakistan and Iraq, if a native sees a person whose White, they would automatically be filled with thoughts of an American. Most these thoughts would probably be pretty traumatizing considering the fact that the U.S. military did a lot of unethical thing in these places such as killing, raiding of homes, denying citizenship to the U.S. and transportation of locals from their homes. With this type of history that exists between Americans and the natives, it would be illogical if racism did not exist especially since their are still conflicts between these countries and the
