Can online dating replace meeting a person in real life? Nowadays, with the development of the new technology, more and more people prefer to communicate online and thus gradually pushing the development of the online dating. According to the statistics, the people between 30-50 years old are more active in online dating. “We presented 367 single Dutch Internet users between 18 and 60 years old with an online questionnaire. We found that online dating was unrelated to income and educational level. Respondents between 30 and 50 years old were the most active online daters” (Valkenburg). Facing the rapid development of the online dating, we can get the root of it which is the growth of using communication technology pushing the growth of using online dating website and thus facilitating the number of online daters especially in recent years, “In recent years, the use of online dating or online personals services has evolved from a marginal to a mainstream social practice. In 2003, at least 29 million Americans (two out of five singles) used an online dating service; in 2004, on average, there were 40 million unique visitors to online dating sites each month in the U.S” (Nicole, Rebecca and Jennifer). Nevertheless, with time going by, online dating also accompanied by some serious problems.
