Can Odysseus be considered an Epic Hero? Odysseus is considered an epic hero because he demonstrates braveness. In the poem Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus proves he is an epic hero. Odysseus is an epic hero because he helps protect his crew and is loyal to everyone.
Odysseus is an epic hero because he has the quality of Hubris, excessive pride. Odysseus displays excessive hubris throughout the entire story. He cares a lot about his ego and will do anything to demonstrate how “amazing” he is. When they went to Cyclopes, they saw giant Cyclops’s. Odysseus wanted to present to his crew that he is tough and strong so he decided to fight the Cyclops, which is another example of him having excessive hubris.
