University of Georgia has many great aspects and very few negatives. Most importantly UGA has a very safe campus. One of my questions for my student interviews was about campus safety. Amanda Compton, the student I interviewed, said that she felt very safe and said that a student card is needed to enter all of the dorms. Also, students can have their …show more content…
For starters Georgia College has smaller class sizes because they are a liberal arts school. Their classes generally have about twenty to thirty students, but some of the science classes are larger. Having smaller classes allows you to be closer to the professors and receive more help from advisors, because there is a smaller amount of students. Also they have a couple different housing options; you can live in a dorm or you can live in The Villages. The Villages is a set of apartment style homes that have four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. These apartments are open to freshmen and sound wonderful because everything is privet and not open to large groups. Another important thing I look for in a college is if the campus is safe or not. After interviewing Sydney Force, a freshman at Georgia College, I learned that the campus is very safe. They have security constantly on campus and there is a police station one block away. The last major thing is the location. Milledgeville is close enough to home so that I could drive home on the weekends to visit my family. Georgia College and State University does have a few downsides along with all the positives. The first down side is that there is only one dining hall. There are restaurants around campus but only select meal plans include these. You can use your money for these restaurants but that is not something I …show more content…
Mercer had a max of pros and cons. One major down side for me is that they do not offer my major there, or anything even relatively close. Also their core classes are not very helpful if you are looking to transfer to another school after two years. The way their core classes work is there are two different options, Great Books and Integrative Program. As I was comparing the Integrative Program to UGA’s and GCSU’s core classes they did not align at all. A positive side to Mercer is their small classes. The largest class that David Holland, a freshman, had was his chemistry class and that contained sixty to seventy students. He said the smallest class he had contained about sixteen students. Two other plus sides are the distance from home and that safety. Mercer is in Macon and is the closet out of all the colleges I researched. David said that he always felt safe on campus and that the on campus police will give you a ride to your dorm if you need them too. The final positive is the meal plan. It is unlimited and you have ten meal swaps for on campus restaurants such as Burger Studio and Einstein’s
