MSU Campus Parking Policies Whether you go to a university or a community college, you will likely find yourself encountered with the troubles of campus parking. Some campuses have policies that are stricter than others. If you are a student at Mississippi State University, you might consider their parking policies to be absurd. I am currently attending my freshman year at Mississippi State University and I must say that the only complication that I have had is with the parking policies. During registration, students are required to obtain a parking permit to legally park on campus. Some students tend to find that the fee for a parking permit is too expensive for college students’ budget. Many teachers agree that it is too costly for them …show more content…
Not all of the parking lots are paved and in good condition like they should be. Many students and staff complain about the gravel lots and the damages it causes to their cars. Potholes are another big problem that drivers have to deal with in their parking lots. Searching to find a parking spot, my boyfriend once hit a pot hole driving through the parking lot and it caused a lot of damage to the bottom front bumper of his car. He complained that parking was not worth messing up his car. Other students have agreed on this and have completely stopped driving on campus due to the risk of damaging their cars and spending more to maintain them. If more students decide not to drive to school, the school would lose more money because there would be no need for anyone to buy a parking permit. The school should pave all parking lots and ensure that they are in the best conditions for drivers. This would save students the trouble of fixing unnecessary repairs on their vehicles and keep them buying a …show more content…
The cost of permits and citations are too high for the students to pay and cause a lot of expense problems for teachers as well as students. The distance and number of available parking spaces makes it hard for students to get to and from class in a smooth matter. The parking policies now are too costly, strict, and limited, for an easy commute on

I know now that parking on the grass, curb, and Starbucks is $50 and not $150. The risk management decision method that I would have chosen if I had to do it over again is avoid. I avoided risk by parked there anyway. Later on in the second semester I got another ticket and it was $50. One night I parked on the side of Starbucks because I was at the library from 8pm-12am.…

Taking away a student's license is not fair. Not to mention the fact that a car and a license has nothing to do with grades and/or keeping your grades up. To be able to maintain steady grades that are higher than a 2.00 GPA, a kid has to attend school (having a license plays a huge role in this), pay attention in class, and just put in effort. Also, teachers are at school to help us learn, not to take a license away from us. If a teacher cares that much about a student's’ grade, they would come up with a better ultimatum that was more academically related.…

Free parking? It sounds like an idea too good to be true, and that’s because quite possibly, it is. At least that’s what Donald Shoup argues in “Yes, Parking Reform is Possible”. A public policy which allows an extensive amount of parking in a crowded city at little to no cost, regardless of budgets or consequences, will have serious negative effects to a community. Shoup predicts that we can achieve major social, economic, and environmental advantages at virtually no expense merely by subsidizing people and places, rather than parking.…

The Issue Regarding 348 Ride Many parents have been coaxed by the university into believing that students always will have a safe way to get home after a long night at the library or a night spent on the strip. Little do they know, 348 Ride which is supposed to be a reliable source of transportation isn’t the slightest bit reliable. Students get hung up on, yelled at or flat out ignored by these drivers hired by the university to come pick students up and get them to where they need to be. As more students ride 348-RIDE, more complaints arise about the safe ride that they are promised.…

If you witness people in the streets of Athens slamming car doors, throwing keys, sprinting to class, or kicking car doors–don’t be alarmed! These are the sights and sounds of students displaying anger because trying to park legally for an extended period of time at Ohio University is like trying to park legally in a “filled” parking garage-nearly impossible. Students agree, having a car on and around campus isn’t worth this frustration or expense! “Parking is by far the worst issue on the Athens campus. If you have a car, leave it at home because your frustration will lead you to park illegally; and hence, you’ll find yourself paying excessive fines in parking tickets,” said Jake Luken, a fourth-year student in the college of Business Finance.…

Because everybody knows if the person got a licence, they gonna be rolling up in a car at school sometime in the school year.…

    UNLV Parking Report

Indeed the parking at UNLV ranges from bad to terrible; I was over 30 minutes to a math midterm due to some sporting event at the Thomas and Mack. I did not know there was an event going on and ended up having to park at the 7-11 on Naples and Swenson and then walk all the way to the east side of campus. I have 8 and 8:30 am classes this semester so when I get to UNLV there is plenty of parking but that is quite a bit earlier than I would like to go to class and getting out of the parking lots in the afternoon is always a pain. Perhaps it is the cynic in my…

Many public high schools in America today are charging students that drive to school, a fee to get a parking sticker that permits them to park in that parking lot. This has caused an up roar in students and parents across the nation because why should a student, that attends a public school be charged an additional tax to come to school in their own vehicle? The answer to this question remains unanswered, but the school districts and state legislation consider it to be a source of profit. While funding is a major consideration, some schools are charging excessive amounts for the sticker.…

As a high school student, I appose the thought of not letting students with a licence drive to school because of where they live in the bus district. Some examples of why that's a bad idea is first, there would be a demand for more buses. Also, the thought of a school telling students that can legally drive that they are not aloud to is a dumb move. Morning's before school can be a hassle. This is another good reason why schools shouldn't have the authority over if a student can drive to school or not.…

Almost every student has experienced something like this before because of some rip off parking lot.
