Many college students support the campus carry laws to be effective and preserve their safety; however the campus carry law can increase assaults within the campus, arguments and confrontations can become lethal, and when a student is under the influence, a weapon can be used incorrectly and harm the individuals that surround him. That is why the new campus carry law should be nullified because of the vulnerabilities it generates putting the students’ safety in jeopardy.
The students throughout college campuses and universities, can encounter an assault with a gun force because carrying a gun in college campuses is legal now. Students are more vulnerable to undergo assaults by another student because they have the power to assault with a firearm. Scholars can break the sacred social contract that they acknowledged when they initiated their college educations. Now, if assaults are being experienced in a college, it not only destroys the relationship between two individuals, but endangers the campus’s promise of keeping its scholars in a nonviolent environment. Gun users can now assault a person in “gun free” zones where nobody can fight against them unless they shoot back projectiles. However, this can cause a shootout where many innocent students are present during the time and are exposed to being shot accidentally. Apprentices from colleges will be cognizant and suspicious towards other scholars because they do not know who has a gun, and if they are able to weigh the responsibilities that come with carrying a handgun. Students will also have the possibility of being robbed, increasing the awareness of scholars but also decreasing student safety in the campus. For example, if an argument in a classroom escalates, the worst that can happen can be an inappropriate verbal discussion between two individuals and can be easily separated by the professor or security around. Now that the new campus carry law has been approved by congress, scholars now carry firearms with them and a modest argument is now not only going to be a verbal discussion, but it may turn into a catastrophic gunfire event. Impulse shooting is one huge factor as to why mass shootings occur, and in many cases it takes away the lives of innocent people. The universities and college campuses cannot afford to put their fellow students’ lives in danger over an irrelevant disagreement between two individuals. For instance, now with the new campus carry law, if a fight were to break out within the campus, scholars can simply draw their guns out in an instant and begin to fire at each other. A simple comment made to another scholar can trigger his rage and in a matter of a seconds the one who originated the argument can be on the floor, lying dead. That’s why a weapon in the hands of a diminutive temper person can cause tragic events, and in college there is a huge quantity of students in or outside the classes that can be shot accidentally by a bullet.
