Camp Robin Hood Experience Analysis

I chose to intern at Camp Robin Hood because of how well it applied to my major. Currently I am working towards my goal of becoming an art educator as well as a part time photographer. By working in the field of art and teaching as a camp photographer/counselor at camp robin hood, I experienced informal education first hand. Before doing this I had taught in several classrooms K-12 but had yet to experience the informal side of education. Camp Robin Hood offers kids many classes/activities at the summer camp where I worked along side other counselors to progress my skills as a teacher and photographer. The experience I had this summer as an intern there was extremely helpful in guiding me towards my professional career.

I would have to say the major thing I took away from this experience was the fact that I encountered many difficulties during the course of the internship, and it was tough to figure out how to deal with the difficulties. This has prepared me for other similar situations that I will most likely have to deal with in other professional work places. Being the photographer at a summer camp has some major differences from any other position. I was extremely busy with the photography side of the job, but I personally took on other rolls at camp to further my knowledge, and maximize my internship experience. In addition to photographing everyday, I also took on teaching softball when needed, as well as working in arts & crafts.
