Camp Kesem Analysis

Decent Essays
I think that I would be a very great fit for the camp because I know what each camper is going through. My personal experiences drive me to want to give to others what I did not recieve when I was going through the same. Using my personal background, I believe that I will really be able to connect with each camper in a way that is meaningful to both the campers and myself. When I heard about Camp Kesem, I could not stop thinking about it. I knew that I had to apply because it is something that I feel I already have a connection

Inside of weeks of North Carolina's withdrawal from the Union, the Confederacy had built up a military vicinity on Roanoke Island. Roanoke Island determined its military centrality by goodness of its area close to the opening of two noteworthy sounds. By the winter of 1861-1862 there were three sand fortresses on the west side of the island, and little batteries on the east side and in the focal point of the island. Indeed, even with the fortresses, Confederate resistances were, be that as it may rather feeble.…

During its first several months of operation, Camp Cooke housed a sizable number of hardcore Nazis from Waffen SS units and other formations. Most of these prisoners, and like-minded troublemakers that arrived later in the camp, were transferred to segregated camps for known Nazi sympathizers. For the most part, the POWs at Cooke were soldiers from infantry, armor, and airborne divisions. Among them were men from Field Marshal Erwin Rommel’s Afrika Korps which had surrendered to American, British, and French forces in May 1943. Luftwaffe and a small number of naval personnel rounded out the military services represented in the camp.…

As a Fish Camp counselor I want to gain a stronger network through the entire camp and develop a bond with others beyond who I have met my first two semesters of college. I want to be a mentor for the next year freshman as they transition into college just like my DG-discussion group-parents did for me. I’d also like to develop my leadership qualities even further through the entire process. The counselors that were in my camp had strong relationships with one another and that is something I want to be apart of. I want to help the Class of 2020 in anyway I can because the counselors my year influenced me significantly and helped me transition into college.…

I want to be in the Leader's In Training program because Camp Mendocino is teaching youth how to live a healthy life at a young age. This camp helps the upcoming youth live in reality instead of the virtual world and ties into my overall life goal of helping Americans understand what it means to live a healthy life physically and mentally. This is important to me because I have dealt with depression and how unhappy I was with myself as a person. From the negative experience I’ve had with depression I don't want any child or teen feel like they are unworthy of the life they are living. By working with Camp Mendocino I will be helping the youth understand how to have a healthy state of mind by encouraging campers to deal with negative feelings…

I would be an asset in the program because I love interacting with people and learning new ways to improve their lives. I quickly discovered my passion for children and this field through the past two years of work experience at the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home (LBCH). I am fortunate enough to be the recreation leader, lifeguard, and math tutor of a diverse group of kids with heart-wrenching upbringings, circumstances, and for some, communication setbacks. My inner longing to provide more assistance to them communication-wise grows daily. The knowledge I am obtaining at ULM, the child-interaction skills I am gaining through the LBCH, and the God-given love and compassion for people all contribute and work simultaneously towards thriving…

I respectfully request permission to accept outside employment for Kanakuk Kamps this summer from May 28th through June 17th during my leave block. I attended Kanakuk, a Christian sports camp, for seven years as a camper and would like to be able to return to work there this summer in the position of a kitchie. A kitchie is responsible for cooking and serving food to the campers and other staff, maintaining the cleanliness of the dining hall, leading groups in sports, and mentoring a cabin of high school girls. Working as a kitchie would be an opportunity for me to work on servant leadership because the job requires long hours, direct leadership of high school girls, and service that should be done joyfully in order to set a positive example.…

Supervisor Even though I haven’t had the chance to work with my Site Supervisor, Dr. Jayne M. From her academic accomplishments to her tremendous work experience outside the field, she has led a rewarding life. I’d hope as one of her interns at Camp Noah, I could undertake any task that is given to me with success and lead by example. Camp Noah is a week-long facility where I would have to “dorm” with other interns or people volunteering. There will be times I might be tired and not willing to get up at eight in the morning, but I have to find the strength in me and just do it.…
