Although the band is known for the neo soul sound, with soft instruments and strong vocals, the whole crowd was into the act. You could not help, but tap your foot and sway your head. There was not much tension from song to song, since the songs are very mellow and chill, but during the last song the audience could get a sense of release. During the song, “Girl,” Syd Bennett held on extra long to some notes and you can feel the release of tension, and proudness of her gender. Many people from the audience applauded for her braveness of the ongoing issue in society. A real sense of connection was developed between the band and the audience as the performance went on. I am a huge hip hop fan, but I listen to many genres of music, which is why this festival was so amazing. The festival was so diverse and cultured in multiple aspects of music with: bands, djs, rappers, solo artists, etc. Getting to the venue was fun, I had to drive four hours to downtown Los Angeles, but listening to music made the time go by fast. The value of the festival was amazing, sure 200 dollars sounds expensive, but for two days of live music, I believe it was extremely worth it. I enjoyed the whole carnival, there were: games, rides, food, and famous musicians performing live, basically heaven for me. Celebrities were also just walking around meeting fans which gave the festival a very natural and accommodating
