One of the many noteworthy memories I have from camp is when a group of friends and I signed up for a sailboat race- none of us knew how to sail. Obviously, the one requirement was that at least one of us had to know how to sail, but we easily lied and were allowed to enter the race. The race was between two boats at a time and all my friends had to be split up to create teams of three. The first team to sail had to face an experienced team. Immediately they found themselves struggling to even get the boat moving. Ryan, one of my friends, was in charge of the daggerboard, which was needed to keep the boat balanced going upwind. Being 15 years old and having no sailing experience, Ryan nor anyone among us knew how to actually put the daggerboard in. It was my release from school and family and other responsibilities. Life at Camp Edwards would swallow all the sorrow and stress that I had and make it dissipate with such ease that it felt like a miraculous magic trick. While it was only a week long, every year I went, it grew dearer to me. To this day, I wish I could turn back time and sail off to those old days where I never needed to worry about what I would do with my life or what grade I need to get on a
