When I was six months old I was brought to a hospital called Shriners in Massachusetts and the hospital performed the surgery on me for free. When the surgery was finished I had to stay in the hospital for nine days while my feet healed. After I left the hospital I still had to wear my casts for another two months. My feet caused me to have a late start to walking.…

I was referred to Dr. Bray by my therapist ( a friend of Dr. Bray's), who had heard me mention many times that I had trouble with my back. I was pretty hesitant to call him - my insurance is quite awful, and because of this, I have an extensive history with poor healthcare providers. I decided to call anyway, despite my apprehension, and I have not regretted that decision. I played competitive volleyball for many years, to the point that I was being recruited to play in college. During my eighth grade year, I was practicing backwards rolls (a fancy way of getting up after diving after the volleyball), and I rolled over the wrong shoulder.…

The first step toward acceptance that Carys and Don took was in trying to understand the objective story of what was going on. They realized that the other person was the way that they were for a reason. This realization helped them both see that it was circumstances that made the other act the way that they do, rather than who they are at their core personality (overcoming the fundamental attribution error).…
