To start with, I would like to talk about why I chose CAMBRiA hotel & suites and how I arranged the visit/tour of the property. First, it was an afternoon that I was looking for a hotel in order to visit it and then start working on my project. After I typed “hotels near me” on Google, I found CAMBRiA hotel & suites as the first option. Although, this is the main reason why I picked this hotel, I would like to add that another thing that impressed me was its webpage, which has the necessary information that any person, who is looking for a hotel to stay at, would need. After I looked into its webpage and found its phone-number, I called the hotel in order to arrange the visit/tour. My call was forwarded to Jordan Gray (Human Resources Managers), …show more content…
It is an all-suites hotels that was opened in 2014 under the management of a Canadian company. The hotel is located on 899 O St NW, Washington, DC 20001, approximately 5 min from Mt.Vernon Square Metro Station and the Walter E. Convention Center. Its building has 10 floors, including the penthouse floor and 4 elevators for transportation, and a great outside looking. Something that I found very interesting is that this is the first hotel that I have been to that has its lobby and front-desk on the second floor. In the lobby, you will find the full-service restaurant, the business center, two meeting rooms, the employees’ room, the laundry room, public restrooms, and the kitchen. The hotel has an open-lobby content surrounded of many sofas and TVs where guests can hang out together. The decoration and lighting of the lobby is perfect; red and gray are the colors used for the interior decoration of the …show more content…
The hotel has an on-site food service offered by Social Circle, serving a locally-inspired menu. Furthermore, the restaurant has also a full-service Cocktail Bar & Lounge that is open during the dinner time, where guests can drink a fresh, fun, and familiar drink. There is also a site-patio next to the restaurant but is temporarily closed due to a neighboring construction. The 24-hour business center, which is also in the lobby, has two computers with internet and two printers that guests can use for free, which allow them to be connected and productive. The CAMBRiA hotel & suites in Washington, District of Columbia hotel offers meeting room facilities to accommodate social and business functions. The two meeting rooms can be used for conferences, parties, dinners or business meetings. Both have projectors, free Wi-Fi, and the hotel also has different types of tables according to what people want or request. The CAMBRiA hotel & suites has a laundry room in house but this is only used by the housekeeping department. If guests want to do laundry, they can use the washers that are on the top floor, but they have to pay for it. The hotel also offers dry-clean service, but that service is offered in the building

The Driskill Hotel is one of the most haunted buildings in Austin and one of the most haunted hotels in Texas; some believe that the reason 23 different owners have held the deed is because of how horrifying the hotel may seem. Colonel Jesse Driskill was a wealthy businessman who made his fortune selling longhorns. In 1885, he decided to change careers and construct the top-notch hotel in his favorite city, Austin, Texas. Driskill was forced to close the hotel in May 1887. According to family, he eventually lost the hotel in a game of poker in 1888 to his brother-in-law, Jim "Doc" Day, who became its second owner.…

    Boston Jail Style

Completed in 1851, the Charles Street Jail was a collaboration between architect Gridley James Fox Bryant, widely considered Boston’s most accomplished architect of the time, and Rev. Louis Dwight, a prominent Yale-educated penologist whose travels shaped his interest in and advocacy for prison reform. Thought to be one of the best examples of the “Boston Granite Style” of the mid-19th century, the building “resonated with a strength and dignity appropriate for the era and for Bostonians’ sensibilities,” said historians. In 1973, after 120 years of housing some of Boston’s most notorious criminals, prisoners revolted because of poor living conditions and the jail was declared unfit and in violation of the inmates’ constitutional rights. On Memorial Day weekend 1990, the last prisoners were moved to the new Suffolk County Jail.…

Figge Art Museum Who would have thought that I, who had neither exposure to nor much interest in art, would have been so captivated by what I experienced during my visit to the Figge Museum. I grew up in Davenport and currently live outside the Quad Cities area and yet I was unaware of the impressive art museum that is in Davenport. I was excited to visit this museum and to see what I had been missing out on all of my life. When I approached the building, its contemporary architectural design was very intriguing to me. I liked the way its overall shape was asymmetrical in that the top two floors are placed off center on top of the lower two floors.…
