Blood. He thought he was marrying an innocent, helpless little girl. He expected her to be broken and vulnerable after being ripped away from her family. He knew he’d hurt her, it was one of his favorite things, hurting people. The first time Jorin saw Calla she was dressed so innocently, in a lavender gown radiating a sense of gentleness all the while surrounded by men who kill for a living. Her eyes were wild and even though he could see she was frightened, he saw a kindness in her blue eyes. He was pleasantly surprised with her beauty, admittedly he had been afraid she’d be hideous. The stories of the women from the middle flatlands being hideous, though false, ran rampant throughout King’s City. But Calla exuded elegance and beauty. …show more content…
Of the six hundred guests in attendance, over four hundred were allies to the cause. It would’ve been the perfect time to overthrow the High Family. But I must provide a true heir before that. I must raise him to be strong, have him learn to fight, learn the ins and outs of ruling, and I must make sure he knows his father is evil. But in order to do so I must survive at least thirteen years of marriage to a monster.
I’ll be blunt. The first piece of business I had planned to attend to was getting Raven out of King’s City and out of my way. But, I had a change of heart. I figured it will be much easier for me to keep an eye on her with her in the city. Granted I sent her on a vacation, long enough for the aides to become accustomed to me as their Queen. Growing up we were on horseback daily, and after being in King’s City for over a year and not riding even once, it was easy for her to convince me as well. The moment we stepped into the training house all the men fell silent. I don’t think it’s common for them to see women in the house, let alone their Queen and one of her ladies. They cleared a path to the center room where Jorin was. He was sparring with a man who looked even bigger than him. Jorin’s guard came to our side and began explaining to us who the other man was. Apparently he came in from the North and was trying to join the King’s Army. Jorin insisted on testing his abilities himself, ignoring his guards advice. Jorin came out on top. He held his sword inches from the man’s neck for what must’ve been a minute before helping the man up. They shook hands and parted. Jorin coming straight towards us, looking furious and dripping in blood. I thought he was going to throw me to the ground and yell at me. I didn’t expect him to kiss me. But that was all he did. He kissed me and then stormed out of the training

Vex'Eredin was brought up in a life of privilege. Growing up in a noble family, there was very little he didn't have. Barely needing to move a muscle to get his own way, he grew into a position of power and influence with ease. As he broached adulthood, his attention was taken by an Elven woman, Lyaria, whose beauty surpassed all others he had seen; her dark, flowing hair and pale complexion a stark juxtaposition to his own features. For what seemed like an eternity, Vex pursued Lyaria, and, thought she showed little interest in him, their feelings did end up developing for one another.…

“In what way was Mary Dalton responsible for her own death?” The growing racial tension and racial oppression in the 1930s, induced by the prior institution of slavery in the United States, caused many African Americans to not only feel inferior to the white population but it also imbedded a strong sense of fear and guilt in the African American community. This same societal oppression that led to the feeling of inferiority, in the pre-civil rights time, was reproduced in Richard Wright’s novel, Native Son. This oppressing feeling captivated the emotions of the main character of Native Son, Bigger Thomas, to such a degree that he was socially awkward around members of the white race.…
