The surname of Callahan is based from the Irish surname Ceallach. “Callahan Family History” states that the Irish meaning of Ceallach is “lover of churches” (n.d.). However, “Callahan Surname, Family Crest & Coats of Arms” defines Ceallach as “strife” (n.d.). While the meaning of Callahan may vary, the specific origins are known. Ceallach is directly related to the Ceallachan family. The Ceallachan family is an extremely important family as their family tree contains a King of Munster from the 10th century (“Callahan Surname,” n.d.). The first official record of Callahan is from Kinlea, Ireland. The name spread across Ireland as much of the original Callahan’s land in Kinlea was lost in battles and wars. In the 1920’s the design of the castle was changed for both enlisted and officer’s, the castles color for both is now set to be gold in color.…

    1. This work of art represents a higher class in society; one element of the art work that expresses this is the clothes that these people are wearing. People’s clothing attire – back then and even still today – can almost always give you an accurate idea, or at least a good clue, of what a person’s social status is. The painting of the Tallmadge family is a good supporting detail towards this point – “the opulence of the Tallmadges’ clothing and surroundings in these paintings abundantly testifies to the wealth, and the social pretensions, of the Federalist elite” (215). *** 2. “The most impressive by-product of the War of 1812 was a heightened nationalism” (240).…

Proud of our ancestry and history, my mother uses our family tree to choose a name for each of her eleven children. So, understandably, many of us have nontraditional first or middle names. When my youngest sister was born, we all scratched our heads at the name Tilley. Excited to share her love of history, she explained that Elizabeth Tilley came to America on the Mayflower with her parents, who died in the first winter. Being homeschooled, my mother was able to teach us history through field trips all over the east coast.…

The book Two Lives of Charlemagne contains two different biographies of Charles the great or “Charlemagne”, who was king of Franks from 771-814 A.D. The first biography is titled “The Life Of Charlemagne” and is written by Einhard. The second biography is titled “Charlemagne” and is authored by Notker the Stammerer. Both biographies of Charlemagne are classical medieval literature, but they differ in their points of view and focus. Einhard mostly talked about the actual life of Charlemagne, the key political decisions, wars he was in, and the projects he’d been working on to help improve the society in his kingdom. Walahfrid Strabo states that “Einhard was one of the most highly thought of among all the palace officials of that time, not…
