“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” —Roger Caras. The dogs Buck from “The Call of the Wild” and White Fang from “White Fang” are similar and different in several ways. At the beginning of the books, they are similar and different in multiple ways. For example, They are both half breeds, Buck is half Saint Bernard and half Scottish Shepherd, but White Fang is half Husky and half Wolf. Another similarity is that they both get “stolen”, Buck is stolen by Manuel and is sold to become a sled dog, White fang is trapped by Gray Beaver and becomes a sled dog. one example of how they are different is that Buck was basically born a prince and lived in luxury, where White Fang was born a pauper and barely has enough food to survive. Since those examples take place, it shows that Buck and White Fang are very similar. Around the middle of the book, the dogs are still different and similar at the same time. One example of their differences is how they obey the laws of the wild. Buck obeys the law of club to become a valued sled dog, as White Fang is subjected to it by his …show more content…
For example, they both save their masters from death, Buck saves John Thorton from drowning, and White Fang saves Jack Conroy when the gold mine caves in and they strike gold. Another example is that both dogs become free after their troubles and hardships.. One example of how they are different is that Buck joins a wolf pack and runs away after his master was killed, but White Fang is set free by Jack Conroy, but gladly returns to him to be his companion for life. Since these events occur, they show how Buck and White Fang are both similar and different throughout their stories In conclusion, Buck from “The Call of the Wild” and White Fang from “White Fang” are both very similar and very different in many ways.
