Douglas Conant, an American businessman, once said, “Ultimately as a leader, you’re evaluated on how you interact with people. If you do it well, you will develop a reputation as an effective leader. If you don’t, you develop a reputation for being a highly ineffective leader (Douglas Conant, BrainyQuote)”. In other words building communication skills to help you interact with people leads to success. As a leader you will have no credibility or respect if you cannot communicate well. In Bzrk by Michael Grant, Caligula, a man, is a leader on team Bzrk. Caligula doesn’t interact well with the members on his team. Caligula’s inability to communicate well or nicely to his team reflects poorly on him. Therefore building a bad reputation as an ineffective leader with his new recruits, Plath …show more content…
Another reason why Caligula is an ineffective leader is because he disrespectfully talks to his team. Caligula came in and killed all the TDF’s then almost killed Anya. Team Bzrk had just regrouped after killing Renfield and the rest of the TDF’s. Caligula left to find guns for his team when they go outside. Caligula found guns and gave them to Vincent and Keats. Then Caligula kneed down to talk to Anya and Caligula said “Now listen to me, whoever the hell you are. Vincent doesn't want me to kill you. But if I have the slightest trouble with you or any trouble at all. I will ignore young Vincent and shoot you. All right then follow me? (Grant 184)”. Caligula thought Anya had enemy biots in her, but Vincent thought otherwise and trusted her. The reason that this displays Caligula disrespectfully talking to his team is by Vincent trusts Anya, and so by talking down to Anya; he is talking down to Vincent as well. Caligula is not respecting Vincent’s judgement therefore being disrespectful to Anya and

I can definitely relate to Gualinto’s character in the manner that I consider myself both Mexican and American as well as being part of a new culture all on its own platform, Hispanic. Similar to my stance, Gualinto yearned to belong and adapt successfully to both worlds while always recognizing that, “he was not an immigrant come to a foreign land,” despite other’s beliefs; unfortunately, in today’s world there are still some individuals that see Mexican Americans as foreigners in the land of Anglos and make it hard for us to live peacefully in our communities. (148) Moreover, I do believe that racism continues to exist in this world and people look down on individuals that come from different backgrounds; hence, Trump and his outspoken negative…
