Climate change is an encompassing phenomena that greatly impacts numerous facets of agriculture - including the wine industry. Approximately 90% of all wine produced in the United States is from California. It is the fourth leading wine producer in the world. Over 2800 wineries provide 330k jobs in California which translates into 820k U.S. jobs. However, California’s climate has been changing as seen through the current- drastic drought. Current trends indicate that the temperature and water levels are changing in a dramatic way, which may jeopardize various climate-sensitive industries of California, specifically wine industry. Therefore, we propose that climate change will cause serious implications to the Californian wine industry.
