Since an early age, I have always wanted to be involved with health sciences, and I have work as hard as I can to accomplish this dream. I was born into a Hispanic family, and raised in way that puts values ahead of money or economic status. I did not enjoy the luxuries that many of my friends had, but I was taught very strong principles. My father always taught me to work hard no matter what, weather it was for a job, school or a hobby. He always told me that I will encounter many rocks in my path, but that it would be up to me to stay behind that rock and let the rock defeat me, or I could just find a way to continue on my path until the next rock.…

There are various reasons as to why I’m deserving of the Etna-Dixmont School Scholarship. The most prevalent reason is my family history and connection with the town of Dixmont. My father and my grandparents moved to from Massachusetts to Dixmont, Maine when he was in second grade. My grandfather bought a house on Route 9 in Dixmont, and some other land in addition to that. The Dixmont Corner Church was built in 1835, and had an active one room school house next to it that was built in 1808.…

    Chipotle Bowl Thesis

I am searching for a campus of brash, tenacious peers who will not set down their sole burrito bowls in defeat, but peers who will eat two, three—as many as humanly possible in the name of Chipotle—and challenge me as well! These are not students who listlessly prod at the same meal every day. Instead, they toss in unthinkable ingredients to create a fresh, unique twist, savoring each tiny bite of their education. Determination, persistence, innovation—these are all values I wish to contribute to UChicago’s student body. To immerse one’s self in intellectual vitality and pursue the “life of the mind” is similar to appreciating Chipotle for its magnanimous beauty…to learn, to enlighten rather than to capitalize is a unique tenet of UChicago that I can find nowhere else.…

Dietitians do not just teach patients to watch their diets, but motivate them to make healthier food choices to meet their nutrition needs. After comparing Texas Christian University, Texas State University, and the University of Texas at Austin, based on my criteria of school population, location of the school, and strength of the program, the University of Texas at Austin would be the best choice in helping me pursue my career in dietetics. Although it takes a few years of hard work to become a dietitian, it is a very rewarding and satisfying career due to the fact that you know you are helping others. My goal is to pursue a career in dietetics, but more specifically, as a clinical dietitian. There is a broad range of specific careers…

Personal Statement I am writing this Personal Statement in support of my application to study for a Master’s degree in Biochemistry at the California State University Sacramento. My interest in Biochemistry has always been a real world interest, and my desire to study Biochemistry at the Master’s level is likewise fueled by the imperativeness of the subject and the crucial role it plays in our everyday lives. The part I want to play as a Biochemist – in bringing to the world's attention the implications of current health practices, various diseases, and living processes – is in my point of view, the essence of biochemical studies. Society has continued solving challenges, seemingly insurmountable and perhaps more pressing than we have ever faced – I strive to be at the forefront of the “solution-finding” as a research scientist.…
