Have you ever noticed that not every city or town is the same? I have lived in Hillman, Michigan almost my entire life, but for two years I lived in San Diego, California. Over time, as I get older, I can see the similarities and differences between each place. Even though Michigan and California do have similarities I feel that they have more differences. I know that it was summer when we left so it was warm. This is how it stayed for the next two years. It felt like I was stuck in summer and that was fine by me. There it was almost always warm and with the occasional rain, same with Michigan in the summer. With Hillman, everything except summer is different. Fall and winter especially. In San Diego or in cities in general this would have been normal and common. In San Diego people tend to have a more open mind-set. This is because there are more people and they are not all the same. They have more “types” of people out there than in a small town of six hundred people. But people can still be the same depending on who you meet. If you move to a new place you will still see some of the same stereotypes. Same person with a different name, this will not

Moving from Albuquerque, New Mexico was the first impactful event of my life. When I was seven years old and almost a half, my parents told me that my family of six was going to pack up everything, leave our home, our livelihood, and move to Idaho. At this time, I was young, but I knew I was going to miss Albuquerque. Already, I knew I was going to miss the plump dappled quails who walked quickly with their wee babies toddling behind in a straight line and the skinny, all leg, roadrunners who would sprint across the roads. As well as those birds, I was going to miss my little Crocodile Smile green room.…
