• Calcitriol: Calcitriol plays a significant role in calcium metabolism and maintenance of bone health. calcitriol controls the production of 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol to increases calcium absorption from the intestine, bone resorption, and that release calcium from bone to blood. calcitriol induces renal transport mechanisms that are activated by Parathyroid hormone that increase tubular reabsorption of calcium from the glomerular filtrate, thus preventing calcium loss in urine (de Brito Galvao, et al, 2013)
