In their book Paying for the party, Armstrong and Hamilton discusses how universities take class differences and class projects of distinct women to define what will be their college experience. In their book, Armstrong and Hamilton defines class projects as individual and class characteristics that defines a person’s agenda and orientation to school. Hence, people with similar class projects not only shared the same financial, cultural and social capital, but also the same expectations toward school. As a result, Armstrong and Hamilton claims that students with similar class projects end up becoming a collective constituency and a representative group for the university, whom in turn must take their interests to form a college pathway for…

That 's why I have chosen to attend Northeast Lakeview College for the first two years of college then transfer to the University of Texas San Antonio for the last two years of college. As summer started to end I was asked frequently: “Are you ready for college?” During my break I could not get over the fact that I have just graduated high school and now I am off to Cal State San Marcos. Summer seemed like a flash and college was creeping behind my shoulders. During the last miserable two weeks all I could imagine was that my hope and dreams were going to be trampled by my fears. When I applied to San Marcos I was full of optimism, not knowing that college would be harder than expected.…

I have visited all over the country, lived in every region possible, but there really is no place like home. If someone were to ask me where I wanted to attend college at this point last year, the only thing that came to mind was the word “south”. I wanted nothing more than to move to a warm place where I could explore the southern region. However, things changed and I decided to move to Connecticut. I hate to say that moving here and attending Sacred Heart University was a mistake, because it was not.…

On May 20, 2016, my adviser and I sat down to have a discussion about the university required courses and courses that was mandatory for the Liberal Arts college. English 101 was one of the classes I chose to take my first semester because I knew I had more knowledge on writing efficient papers because of my previous AP English courses in high school. In high school, I was always told that I was an adequate writer because I knew the basic of connecting ideas that provided a clear concrete understanding. However, the only time I received an unsatisfactory score was when the information I included in my paper was unorganized. Also, another reason I chose to take English my first semester instead of my second semester was because I knew I needed…

As I came to college, my family and I anticipated I would be following a simple mold of a conscientious student. One that is highly focused in some limited number of long term goals. Don 't get me wrong, this only meant that I had high expectations out of my college education. For some people, this path leads them to great success. But, I slowly realized my vision of success needed to have stories from different roads and bridges, than just one simple path.…

I have learned about others’ experiences and how those experiences have changed them to become better and to think about different topics throughout the world. I have learned to be open-minded to what is happening now but also being open-minded to all opportunities. Through some of my experiences on campus, I have become more open-minded through discussing current events and have learned to develop my pre-conceived notions of a certain individual judging them based on their actions rather than what they appear to be. As someone who is an introvert, being isolated isn’t a big deal but at my time in college, I have become increasingly comfortable with doing things by myself and traveling places…

English 219 was my first college level English course, and through attending and completing all of the assignments I have learned many skills that I believe will greatly help me in my future courses in college. Next semester I am enrolled in English 220, and after having taken this course I feel substantially better about continuing on with English courses at a college level. It has helped me to become more confident in my writing skills and provided me with an excellent basis for me to continue on with next semester, and throughout the rest of my schooling experience. Throughout this class I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important is the steps to writing an essay, and the planning options.…
