Caco Reflection

Decent Essays
I just finished meeting with Robert & Sandra. After consulting with the Senate and UPC chair we have begrudgingly concluded that it would in the best interest of CAECO students to support the following senate motion. The retraction of the motion could result in the likelihood that CAECO majors would have only an approximately 25% chance of being able to register for their desired elective courses. It is important to note that recent history has shown that over 75% of the students enrolled in CAECO electives are non-CAECO majors.
After thoughtful deliberation we felt that this would not be an appropriate risk. Thus, we will be sending the CAECO program committee members an email message that asks them to acknowledge their support or disagreement

In the last five years, I have worked as a CNA, an LVN at a nursing home and clinic, and an RN in the CVICU. All of these experiences have greatly contributed to my solid nursing foundation. As a CNA, I enjoyed the direct interaction and knowing my patients on a personal level. As an LVN, I handled up to 35 patients while supervising the CNAs. I also performed wound care for up to 100 patients when I worked as a Wound Care Nurse.…

    Curanderismo Reflection

Curanderismo has been a presence in my life since I was very young. Growing up in a small community in Northern New Mexico ensured that I was exposed to traditional medicine and alternative forms of spirituality. This class was not my first exposure to curanderismo, though many of the readings and videos helped clarify and explain many of the elements of curanderismo that had been present in my life, but had not been explained. Curanderismo is just as much of a form of cultural expression as it is a form of traditional healing. Personally, curanderismo is a link to my cultural and family history, helping to continue traditions that my family has had for generations.…

    Equiano Reflection

My first initial impression of the novel was quite surprising. First of all, this story is not like most slave narratives. For instance, Equiano had a very close relationship with his masters and captains, “he was to me a friend and a father” (Equiano 110). Although, it is hard to remember which master he belongs to as he is telling his story. Perhaps, Equiano might be doing this on purpose so that we understand how many times he was sold and traded throughout his life.…

Revamping Community College In the article “Revamping Community Colleges to Improve Graduation Rates” it talks about ways that people of education are working to help improve the graduation rate. While I am all for more people going to college and getting degrees, I do not agree with the changes that the article suggests. One of the changes that they are trying to enforce is the idea of free college. In the article, it states that “Bills are pending to carry out President Obama’s America’s College Promise proposal to make community colleges free to responsible high school graduates.”…

    Pensacola Reflection

Today I presented my untitled poem to the class. My poem was about my life here in Pensacola and some of my opinions on staying here and leaving. I really didn’t have any major inspiration to the poem besides the fact that I have been watching a ton of college move in videos on youtube. I always say things like “I hate Pensacola” or “there’s nothing to do here” (which I still agree with) and “I can’t wait until I leave”, but honestly, I can wait. I can wait forever.…

I am intrigued by the level of trained professional care that is governed in RTCs. When I think of RTC, I remember when I worked at the CSB. While the staffs are trained professional, I did not have the knowledge to understand the level of therapeutic intensity. The CSB RTC was for adults and not children, which explains the level of medical personal on staff, but I think all RTC should provide on-site medical care. It is my understanding that the lack of funding provides a level of understanding for the deficiency of staff.…

This week in clinical, me and another nursing student were assigned to go and visit the PACU. All patients are admitted to the PACU, Post-anesthesia care unit, following surgery. We visited the PACU in the first week of clinical, so I was familiar with the environment. When I first walked into the PACU it was empty, but the nurse told me just give it a few minutes it is going to get busy. I was assigned to be with a nurse for the day and observe how she takes care of patients after surgery is completed.…

Edgar Allen Poe is an American writer that is world renown for his dark writing style, which allows the reader to be engulfed into his tales of horror and mystery. The Cask of Amontillado is a classic Poe style story that is littered with unexpected twists and turns around every corner. The reader is able to watch from afar as the main character seeks revenge against his “friend” Fortunato. Poe’s ability to create a character like Montresor amazes me because of the unique way in which he reveals the main characters poor mental health without directly stating that he is insane. The gradual realization of this is what makes the story so unique to Poe’s style.…
