Cabinet Department Research Paper

The Department of Defense is one of our fifteen cabinet departments that is part of the executive branch. The function of this department is to run military affairs and operations. It does this from their headquarters which is the Pentagon. Though the president is over the whole department, it continues to break down and smaller leadership roles that the president appoints people too. For example, the department has a Secretary of the Department of Defense, Deputy Director of Administration and Management, and a Director of Administration and management. This department also has a lot of controversy all surrounding the decisions the Department of Defense makes that people disagree with.

What do you know about the cabinet departments? There are fifthteen cabinet departments and they all have their own budget, staff and policy areas. Each department also has their own secretary. Since the cabinet departments are apart of the executive branch, the president gets to appoint the heads of the department. However, the president does need the Senate consent before choosing. Michael L. Rhodes is the Director of Administration and management. He is right under the Deputy Director of Administration and Management and is the principal staff assistant to the Secretary of Defense. Mr. rhodes is responsible for advising on organizational and management matters for the OSD and Dept. of Defense. He oversees the Dept. of Defense Freedom of Information program , Privacy program, Civil Liberties Officer responsibilities, and Historical programs (Director of Administration and Management). Mr. Rhodes also assist the Deputy of Commandant in the operations and management of the M&RA Department, ensuring integration of its many diverse functions towards accomplishment of the Marine Corps missions (Director of Administration and
