Description of the Scene
Caché is a French film, directed by Michael Haneke. I chose to analyze the last ten minutes of the film because I found the ending very intriguing. The specific time of the film scene I selected is from 1 hour 46 minutes of the film till the end of the film. This scene can be divided into two specific scenes. The first scene takes place at George’s childhood farmhouse, and there is a man and woman who come in a car and pick up a little boy from the house despite the boy’s will. The second scene takes place in front of the stairs of a school. There are many teenagers standing and chatting on the stairs. Although there is not much going on in these two scenes, there should be a special meaning behind them because I believe Haneke arranges these two scenes at the end for a purpose.

In the third viewing, I started to look into specific details. I looked closely to the people who are standing and sitting on the stairs in the very last scene. I found Pierrot and Majid’s son are both on the stairs, and the film ends when they both leave the scene. Then, in my very last viewing, I paid attention to the angle of the shots and the editing. I realized that after watching the same scene for multiple times, you will be very familiar with the scene, and will start to look for details in the scene such as the sound, the background, the foreground, specific movements of the subjects, shot angles and
