1)CQI (continuous quality improvement)- CQI is a doctrine that motives health care professionals to continuously ask open-ended questions: “how are we doing?” and “Can process be improve for efficiency?” or “Are services provided in a timely manner?” these questions will aid them to improve quality care. Some of the principles of CQI include: Infrastructure supports systematic implementation of quality improvement, having an ongoing quality improvement activities which will improve patient care, and performance measurement which lays the foundation for quality improvement. CQI can be used to improve patient safety and quality care. For example, medical errors are usually caused by system or process failure. Providers can adopt various process …show more content…
This requires identifying a goal or an objective, producing a theory, and defining success metrics and putting a plan into action. (Spath, 2013). PDSA/PCDA allows providers to test out a change that has been implemented. PDSA/PCDA can be used in health care, for example, to obtain patient satisfaction survey and reduce wait time. You will need to plan the objective, execute it, observe it (how well did your plan work), lastly, you plan of action—did you achieve your goal.
3)Six Sigma- is a systematic approach for eliminating medical errors. It requires clear effective visual communication. It focuses on quality care improvement. It uses substantial measurement and statistical survey to understand how work is completed and to identify the root cause of errors. It also requires thorough and flexibility. This tool can be used in health care setting to improve patient care. For example, outpatient clinic can use this tool to determine the cause for long wait time in their clinic. They can conduct meeting to investigate and find a solution to the issue which will increase patient satisfaction or experience at their clinic. Another example is patient safety. If a patient decease at a hospital, this tool will help determine the cause of the death and what can be done to prevent safety
