There are several changes that should be made in the CPSC Safety Alert. For example, throughout the safety report, phrases are used repeatedly. Based on the qualities of good technical writing, conciseness, is one of the key skills. Writing in the workplace requires you to convey important information in a brief, but comprehensive form. For the safety report, the phrases “adjust thermostat”, “call local company”, and “…use thermometer” are seen in each heater case. I would first introduce the three heater types and then mention the common steps before giving details for each heater type. This will shorten the overall length of the alert and make it more concise. This is the one change I would make to the CPSC Safety Alert. The alert shows the
