There are several functions of the CPOE system that may address the needs of the nursing department.
First, CPOE should enable the ability for the nurses to work with real-time data of patients’ EHR to expedite the caring processes. It should provide the function for provider to prescribe orders remotely, which will enhance the nursing’s workflows and the on time treatments for patients. The nurses do not have to wait for the physical presence of the providers to have orders prescribe (Andrews, DiFrancesco, & Gilliam, 2003).
